The 11th International Business Genius Bangladesh (BGB) 2026 was held at the BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) campus on September 26, bringing together students, academics, industry professionals and celebrities to promote youth entrepreneurship and innovation. Organized by Business Genius Bangladesh in association with the Faculty of Apparel Studies, BUFT, the daylong program featured business idea presentations, quizzes, cooking competitions, debates and cultural activities. The initiative aims to empower aspiring student entrepreneurs, encourage innovative business ideas and strengthen connections between academia and industry. The opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. M. Abdullah Al Mamun, Chief Adviser of Business Genius Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor of BUFT, attended as chief guest, while Prof. Dr. Engr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Apparel Studies, was the guest of honor.

Among others, Mr. Md. Mozammel Haque, Head of Corporate Affairs and Brand Communication at Farazy Hospital Ltd, Mr. Sabbir Ahmed Abir, Head of Apparel Merchandising & Management at BUFT, and Mr. M A Nahiyan, Chairman of Business Genius Bangladesh, attended the event. Dr. M Mokter Hossen, Managing Director of Farazy Hospital Ltd, attended the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed crests among winners of the various competitions. Actresses Bobby Haque and Orchita Sporshia, actor Joy Chowdhury, brand promoters Bipasha Kabir and Barisha Haque, and film producer-director Sakib Sonet were also present as celebrity guests. The 11th edition of BGB will continue with campus engagement, mentorship initiatives and business idea competitions aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills among young people across Bangladesh. Business Genius Bangladesh is a platform focused on youth entrepreneurship, innovative business strategies and global networking opportunities for students and young professionals.

Mr. Md. Mesbha Uddin Ali, Chairman of Wega Group, has been appointed Chairman of the newly constituted Board of Trustees (BoT) of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT). The appointment was made at the board’s inaugural meeting on September 28, where members discussed key matters relating to the university’s governance, administration and future development. The newly constituted Board of Trustees reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening BUFT’s academic and institutional capabilities and advancing the university’s continued growth and development. The meeting also underscored the importance of enhancing BUFT’s contribution to education and professional skills development in Bangladesh’s textile, apparel and fashion industries. In this context, the board discussed strategic initiatives to further align the university’s academic programs and skills development efforts with the evolving needs of the industry.

The BUFT Career Development Club (BCDC) successfully concluded Corporate X 2026, a multi-round competition designed to develop students’ creativity, industry knowledge, analytical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The grand finale was held on September 27 at the BUFT Multipurpose Hall, bringing together finalists, university authorities and industry professionals. The competition featured three rounds: Textile Vision X, focused on creative video presentations; Textile Trivia, testing knowledge, quick thinking and accuracy; and Textile ThinkTank, where shortlisted teams tackled case-solving and presentation challenges.

The finale was attended by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor, BUFT; Prof. Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Pro VC (Acting) & Treasurer; Dr. Md. Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan, Director, CDC; Dr. Mohammad Raza Miah, Assistant Professor, BUFT; and Mr. Md. Abdul Mukit, Advisor of BCDC. Mr. AKM Fahim Mashroor, CEO and Co-founder of Bdjobs.com, joined as the Chief Guest and delivered a session titled “The Changing Face of Employment in Bangladesh,” sharing insights into the evolving employment landscape and career opportunities. TWO NOOBS emerged as the Champion, with DELTA1 as the 1st Runner-Up and NURHAB as the 2nd Runner-Up.

Corporate X 2026 provided students with practical exposure to teamwork, creativity, decision-making and real-world problem-solving while connecting them with industry perspectives. The successful event reflects BCDC’s continued efforts to bridge academic learning with professional development and prepare students for the evolving corporate world. BCDC congratulated all winners, finalists and participants and expressed gratitude to the university authorities, guests, industry professionals, volunteers and organizing team for their contributions to the success of the event.
