BUFT Showcases Future Fashion Vision
The Department of Fashion Design & Technology (FDT) of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) hosted a fashion collection display titled "Vision of Unseen: Where Thought Shapes the Future of Fashion" on August 4, 2026. showcasing original garment collections developed by students of Fashion Design & Technology, Batch 232, as part of their academic coursework under the supervision of Ms. Urmila Mukhtar Jeny, Assistant Professor, FDT. The exhibition highlighted the students' creativity, technical expertise, and commitment to responsible and sustainable fashion design. Through innovative concepts and meticulous craftsmanship, the collections reflected fashion's potential to inspire change, promote sustainability, and shape the future of the industry. The event provided a vibrant platform to celebrate creativity, academic excellence, craftsmanship, and the limitless possibilities of futuristic fashion.
Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), attended the program as the Chief Guest. The Special Guest was Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice-Chancellor (Designate), BUFT. The event was also attended by Prof. Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Acting) & Treasurer; the Deans; and faculty members from the Departments of Fashion Design & Technology and Fashion Studies. The Guest of Honor was Mr. Belal Hossain, President of the Bangladesh Handicrafts Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Banglacraft) and a Commercially Important Person (CIP) of Bangladesh, who attended the program along with members of his team.
Among the distinguished guests were Mr. Shahid Shamim, Director of PRABARTANA; Mr. Jahangir Hossain, Director General of the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT), Ministry of Industries, Government of Bangladesh; and Mr. Salauddin Yousuf, representative of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). The presence of the distinguished guests added significance to the event, encouraging students to pursue excellence in fashion design while reinforcing the importance of creativity, innovation, sustainability, and industry-academia collaboration. The exhibition celebrated the achievements of the young designers and highlighted BUFT's continued commitment to nurturing future fashion professionals capable of contributing meaningfully to the advancement of Bangladesh's fashion and apparel industry.
