BUFT Hosts Seminar on Healthy Body, Healthy Brain

The Department of Public Relations at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), in collaboration with the BUFT LEO Club, organized a seminar titled "Healthy Body, Healthy Brain" on January 6, 2025, at BUFT’s multipurpose hall in Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka. The seminar emphasized the crucial link between physical and mental well-being. The event featured Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at BUFT, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Dr. M. Mojibul Haque, Consultant at The Centre of Integrative Medicine, USA, as the keynote speaker. Mr. Md. Mahbubul Haque, Chairman of the American Wellness Centre (AWC), attended as the Special Guest, and the seminar was chaired by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice-Chancellor of BUFT. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Mohammad Imtiaj, Director of Public Relations.

The event featured a Q&A session with Prof. Haque, guest speeches, and a health awareness rally. BUFT and AWC signed a MoU, highlighting BUFT’s focus on health initiatives. AWC extended exclusive benefits to BUFT employees and students, including free consultations, discounts on therapies, diagnostics, and products, plus complimentary seminar participation. The seminar also featured a health checkup session to promote personalized well-being. Faculty, students, health professionals, and media members attended, reinforcing BUFT’s dedication to fostering a culture of health and wellness.

BUFT Students Shine at 7th IEOM Bangladesh International Conference

Students from the BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) have made the institution proud by securing First Place in the prestigious Lean Six Sigma Competition at the 7th IEOM Bangladesh International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, hosted by American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) from December 21 to 23, 2024.

The winning project, titled "Implementation of TQM Tools for Enhancing Quality: A Case Study in the Ready-Made Garment Sector in Bangladesh," was presented by a talented team consisting of Ms. Fariha Fairooz Nodi and Mr. Atik Bakhtiar Muhammad Abdullah, under the supervision of Mr. Md. Ariful Ferdous, Mr. Ahnaf Tahmid, and Dr. A H M Abdul Moudood, all from BUFT’s Department of Industrial Engineering.

This remarkable achievement underscores BUFT’s commitment to fostering innovation, research, and excellence among its students, preparing them to tackle real-world industrial challenges.

BUFT Teachers and Students Explore Textile and RMG Manufacturing at Kaizer Knitwear Ltd.

On January 4, a delegation of students and faculty from various departments of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) visited Kaizer Knitwear Ltd., a 100% export-oriented knit composite industry in Nayapara, Kashimpur, Gazipur-1346. The educational visit aimed to bridge academia and industry by offering students practical exposure to the textile and RMG manufacturing process, aligning academic knowledge with industry practices.

During the visit, students observed various stages of operations, including knitting, dyeing, pattern making, marker making, fabric cutting, sewing, quality control, packaging, and the utility section. Factory representatives provided detailed insights into the workflow and highlighted best practices to maintain efficiency and quality in production.

The group was honored to have BUFT's Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Treasurer Prof. Dr. Alamgir Hossain, and senior faculty member Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan from the Business Department accompany them throughout the tour. BUFT expresses heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Md. Jakir Hossain, Managing Director of Kaizer Knitwear Ltd. and a distinguished member of BUFT’s Board of Trustees, for his generous hospitality, meticulous arrangements, and inspiring words that enriched the visit.

Such initiatives are vital in equipping BUFT students with practical skills and a deeper understanding of the dynamic textile and RMG industry, preparing them to excel as future professionals in the field.
