Tanim Al Jisan, a student at BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT), secured first place in the UCR Half Marathon 3rd Edition at Hatirjheel on December 15, 2024. This marks his first victory in the 21.1 km race, following second and third-place finishes in previous editions. Starting at 5:45 a.m., participants completed three laps around Hatirjheel. Tanimfinished the course in just over 1 hour and 30 minutes. The award ceremony was attended by representatives from the event's sponsoring organizations and distinguished guests.

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) hosted a landmark MoU signing ceremony with Shin Shin Group and Epyllion Group on November 25, 2024, at its permanent campus in Nishatnagar, Dhaka. This collaboration bridges academic learning with industry practices, fostering innovation, skills development, and career advancement for BUFT students. The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of BUFT’s Board of Trustees and Former President of BGMEA, along with Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor of BUFT. Among the distinguished guests were Ms. Mifrae Mostari, Director of Shin Shin Group; Mr. TIM Zahid Hossain, Adviser for People and Culture at Shin Shin Group; and Mr. Mohammed Showket Iqbal, General Manager of HR, Admin, and Compliance at Epyllion Group. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Alamgir Hossain, Treasurer of BUFT, followed by a group photo session. The event was graced by the presence of Deans, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Chief Financial Officer, heads of academic and administrative departments, faculty members, officials, and students.

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its students at the prestigious 2024 Society of Dyers and Colorists (SDC) International Design Competition, held on October 28, 2024. This internationally recognized event promotes sustainable and socially responsible fashion, gathering top undergraduate talent from universities worldwide to display their innovative designs.

BUFT honors the exceptional success of its students: Mijanur Rahaman Mijan, winner from the BFS department; Nayem Ar Rahman Khan, first runner-up from the FDT department; Dorothy Mohosin, second runner-up from BFS; and Sadia Ul Mim, second runner-up from FDT. These accomplishments underscore BUFT’s dedication to fostering creativity, sustainability, and social responsibility in the fashion industry. A special thanks to Afsana Ferdousi, BUFT alumni, SDC Bangladesh judge, and regional coordinator, whose mentorship played a crucial role in inspiring these students to excel. Mijanur Rahaman Mijan’s victory as Bangladesh’s representative underscores BUFT's role in fostering young designers dedicated to sustainability and responsible fashion.

The competition took place at Alliant Ltd, Gulshan, Dhaka, with esteemed judges including Afsana Ferdousi, Sustainable Fashion Designer and International Fashion Judge; Sanjeewa Malaviarachchi, Chartered Colourist and Head of Wet Processing at A&E; Sarmily Sarker, Head of the Fashion Studies Department at BUFT; and Md. Aktaruzzaman, Executive Director of Alliant Ltd. These remarkable achievements solidify BUFT’s position as a leader in fashion education, committed to shaping a sustainable and innovative future for the industry.
